Getting Ready
Getting Ready Photos
You might be asking yourself, “Do I need my photographer for while we’re getting ready?” It’s a good question. There’s always a balance between being present in the moment and choosing to document it.
The getting-ready portion of your day is often underestimated. It’s where the morning light hits your dress hanging in the window. It’s the quiet moment your mom zips you up without saying a word. It’s laughter cutting through the nerves, as you and bridesmaids sip mimosas and argue about who’s going to close down the dance floor that evening. This time is about the anticipation.
These aren’t posed moments. They unfold naturally, and that’s exactly what makes them worth capturing.
Having your photographer present during getting ready also gives everyone some time to warm up. By the time you’re walking down the aisle, the camera feels familiar, and it shows in the photos.
Our recommendation is to include at least one to two hours of getting-ready coverage. You don’t have to document every minute, but the moments that happen in that room before everything begins tend to become some of the most cherished images from the entire day.
